Report: Manchester United star can leave for £51 million

De Gea

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has a €60m release clause in his contract, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The report claims Real Madrid have not forgotten about the former Atletico Madrid player and are likely to rekindle their interest in him in the future.

The 26-year-old, who was extremely close to joining Real Madrid last year, signed a new 5-year deal at Old Trafford following the collapse of his move to Los Blancos, but it seems like he could still have plans to return to his native Spain in the future.

His future is not really in question right now, but things could change a few years from now.

Real Madrid’s transfer ban means the Spanish giants wouldn’t be able to prize De Gea away from Old Trafford before January 2017, so the fans don’t have any reason to worry at this moment in time.

Van Gaal’s departure has also reportedly been a major factor in De Gea’s decision to stay at the club, but if United don’t get back to where they were under Sir Alex Ferguson soon, the Spain international could decide to move on.

However, Real Madrid definitely look like the most serious candidate for De Gea’s signature, so United still have time to become a serious title contender and return to the Champions League.
