Toni Kroos has signed a new contract with Real Madrid until 2022. The club released an official announcement with the news that were already revealed Wednesday in Spain.
The 26-year-old joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2014 after an excellent World Cup run, which earned him the trophy. Costing between 25 and 30 million euros, he was seen as one of the smartest buys in that transfer window.
Since his arrival, his clinical passing and corner kicks have made him a top assister. With four goals in 108 games, he’s well below 25 in 205 that he did at Bayern Munich.
Back in Germany, he played considerably closer to the rival’s net than he does at the Bernabéu now. His playmaking abilities have been the top priority for the coaches he’s had in Madrid.
While he doesn’t score too many goals, when he does, he’s put a curve to them that has become his signature. He did it back in August against Celta de Vigo and repeated against Czech Republic during the international break.
With this contract renewal, Real secure the future of the midfield. Luka Modrić is 31 years old and won’t be a top level sooner or later. Toni’s pledge assures that the creativity will live on once the Croatian is gone.
