Jose Mourinho reveals whether he will start Marcus Rashford this week

Jose Mourinho has confirmed young sensation Marcus Rashford will make his first start of the season at Feyenoord on Thursday evening.

Rashford came on as a substitute at half-time in the 1-2 defeat to Manchester City last weekend and once again impressed with his pace, technique and directness.

Mourinho praised the striker’s performance after the game and said the 18-year-old will start in the Netherlands later this week.

“For me the next big game is against Feyenoord and the next game [Rashford] is going to play. That is the only thing I can say,” Mourinho said.

“The next big game is against Feyenoord and he is going to play,” Mourinho said. “I trust him completely. I know his future will be absolutely brilliant.

“He is mainly a No 9 and if you want to play him in different positions, we need to work him, we need to improve him, but his big personality is there.

“Normally, people look to the football talent but the personality at this level is very, very important and he was showing that last season, he was showing that immediately. He gave us in the second half what we needed but didn’t get from Miki or Jesse in the first half.”

Manchester United begin their Europa League campaign with a trip to Rotterdam this week and the Red Devils will surely want to bounce back from the defeat to City as soon as possible.

However, it’s going to be a very tough game for United as Feyenoord have started the Eredivisie season brilliantly.

The Dutch giants have won their first five games of the league season, only conceding two goals in the process, and it seems like they’ll be one of the contenders for the title this season.

If Mourinho wants his team to leave De Kuip with all three points on Thursday, he shouldn’t make drastic changes to his starting eleven as playing too many players with little to no game time since the start of the season could be costly.
