Manchester United scouts were present at last weekend’s Ligue 1 game between Bordeaux and Nantes to keep a close eye on the hosts’ striker Diego Rolan, according to French news outlet RMC.
The report claims Manchester United are interested in the Uruguayan international, but face competition from German giants Bayern Munich.
Bordeaux are thought to be open to Rolan’s departure in this transfer window, provided they receive an offer that meets their demands.
The 23-year-old former Defensor Sporting player managed to score the winning goal for Bordeaux against Nantes last Sunday, which will surely draw the attention of more clubs.
Rolan scored 10 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Bordeaux last term and has already scored 2 goals in 3 games this season.
He’s a very promising striker and it’ll be interesting to see whether he’ll be able to add more goals to his game this season.
United are highly unlikely to make a move for Rolan in this transfer window as they don’t need another striker, but this doesn’t mean they aren’t keeping tabs on the player.
The Uruguayan isn’t really good enough to justify a move to a European giant yet, but if he takes his game to another level in terms of scoring, then he’d have a great chance of signing for a bigger club.
