Report: Manchester United looking to sign two players before the deadline

Manchester United want to sign two new defenders before the end of the transfer window on Wednesday, according to the Daily Record.

The report claims Jose Mourinhohas identified Fabinho and Jose Fonte as his primary targets as he wants to sign a quality right-back and also another centre-back.

The newspaper goes on to suggest United will first need to sell two senior players, with Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian the most likely candidates to leave this week.

Rojo is believed to be a target for Spanish side Valencia, whereas Darmian is being linked with a move to Napoli.

United have been heavily linked with moves for Fabinho and Fonte in the last few weeks and it seems like the rumours aren’t going to disappear before the end of the transfer window.

Both players would be quality additions to the United squad, but given Mourinho’s comments on the club’s transfer activity during the final days of the window, it’s hard to imagine the English giants signings two players in the next two days.

Mourinho’s squad is easily good enough to complete the full season, although things could quickly change if one of the club’s senior defenders departs the club before the deadline.
