Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett is on the verge of completing a permanent move to Championship side Reading after passing a medical with the club last weekend, according to local newspaper Get Reading.
The report claims Blackett’s switch to Reading could be confirmed as early as Monday evening.
The 22-year-old versatile defender, who can play at centre-back and left-back, has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer and it seems like he’s agreed to sign a permanent deal with the Royals.
Blackett was given his first-team United debut by Louis Van Gaal in the 2014/15 season, but failed to establish himself in the Dutchman’s starting eleven.
He was sent out on loan to Celtic last season, during which he only made 8 appearances for the Scottish champions. It seems like Blackett isn’t part of Mourinho’s plans and it’s hardly a surprise.
He isn’t good enough for Manchester United and it’d be best for him to leave the club in search of regular first-team football.
Reading would be a great destination for Blackett as he’d have more chances to play and would work under Manchester United legend JaapStam, who’s one of the best centre-backs in history.
