Arsenal receive answer following approach for main target

Mustafi

According to the Mirror, Valencia are asking for £50 million in exchange for Shkodran Mustafi. Mustafi is a reported target of Arsenal, but this asking price may very well be outside of Arsene Wenger’s price range.

The report states that Wenger has walked away from from Mustafi due to the high transfer fee, but it is believed that a deal could still be resurrected since Valencia want the cash.

Valencia are reportedly interested in Chelsea winger Pedro, and if they sell Mustafi they could use his transfer fee to fund a move for him.

However, the more likely scenario may be that Arsenal back out of the Mustafi negotiations, and instead look to solve their center back problems with a cheaper alternative.

Arsenal are reportedly looking into Jonny Evans of West Brom as a backup option in case the Mustafi deal does not come to fruition.

The Gunners may quickly be shifting their attention to Evans because a deal for Mustafi is beginning to look more and more like a long shot.
