Manchester United are interested in signing Gremio star Luan Vieira, according to Brazilian newspaper Zero Hora.
The report suggests Luan’s performances at the Olympics have attracted United’s attention, but the Red Devils face competition from Barcelona, Juventus and Liverpool.
Gremio are one of the contenders for the Brazilian title this season and are unlikely to sanction Luan’s sale before the end of their league campaign in December.
However, the newspaper claims Gremio would consider selling the talented attacker in this transfer window if they receive an offer of at least €45m.
Given Gremio’s alleged reluctance to lose Luan this month, a deal similar to the one that saw Palmeiras agree to sell Gabriel Jesus to Manchester City in January seems much more likely.
Ronaldinho’s former club is believed to be asking for €30m for the potential sale of Luan in January.
23-year-old Luan, who can play on the left wing and behind the striker, has been one of Brazil’s best players at the Olympics so far, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists in 5 games.
With Martial and Memphis already at United, the team doesn’t need any more left wingers at this moment in time, but Luan’s ability to play behind the striker could be useful.
That being said, it’s hard to imagine United meeting Gremio’s asking price this summer as the Red Devils have already spent close to £150m in this transfer window.
