According to AS, a Spanish sports newspaper, Zinedine Zidane is satisfied with the squad and doesn’t expect any more arrivals. However, the exit door is still open.
With two players per position with the exception of Casemiro, the coach feels he has what it takes to fight for this year’s four remaining competitions.
While Casemiro’s role is important in the current squad, there are no plans to bring a competitor. Instead, Zizou would rather reshape the system should the #14 get injured or suspended.
Should no signings be made, Real Madrid would close their second consecutive summer window without spending big. Last summer Danilo and Mateo Kovačić were the largest investments costing about 30 million euros each.
Kiko Casilla, Lucas Vázquez, Marco Asensio and Casemiro completed last summer’s arrivals. The first three arrived for about 11 million euros total, while the Brazilian came back from a loan spell.
This summer, the story is similar, but with Álvaro Morata being the only player costing any money. His buyback clause was 30 million and is the only true signing.
The rest of players joining this season are coming back from loans, including Fábio Coentrão and Marco Asensio. Despite that the threat of the FIFA ban is there, the club trusts the loan and buyback systems will work like they have so far.
Even though nobody is expected to come in, there may be some exits. Ødegaard, Mariano, and other Castilla players may go on loan, while James Rodríguez could be the big shocking departure.
