Takuma Asano has revealed that he was unsure of making a move to Premier League giants Arsenal this summer
Arsenal were widely touted to make a move for a new striker this summer and high profile names such as Alexandre Lacazette, Gonzalo Higuain and Carlos Bacca among others, have all been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
As of now, Arsenal have not been able to bring in anyone of the aforementioned names to the club but the Gunners have made an acquisition of a new striker in the form of Japanese international Takuma Asano.
Asano agreed to join Arsenal from Sanfrecce Hiroshima for a fee believed to be in the region of around £2 million and despite his lowly price tag; manager Arsene Wenger has high hopes for the 21-year-old.
The young striker recently played his final game for Sanfrecce and will now be joining up with the Arsenal squad in the coming days.
Ahead of the move, Asano has gone on to state that he always wanted to play abroad but admitted that he was unsure regarding a transfer to Arsenal due to the challenging prospect.
Asano was quoted saying by the London Evening Standard, “I’ve always wanted to play abroad and I had a few offers before but I was never sure if I should go or not.
“Once I was called up for the top national team where there are a lot of players playing abroad. Playing with them made me think that I also want to play and challenge in a foreign league.
“And then I had the offer from Arsenal. Of course, I was still not sure whether to go or not. I talked with my family and friends and felt good about the decision after talking with them.”
