Besiktas reportedly interested in Manchester United star

Schweinsteiger

Besiktas are interested in signing Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to Turkish newspaper Fanatik.

The report claims the German midfielder is not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans at Old Trafford, which has drawn the attention of the Turkish champions.

However, Besiktas are likely to face competition for Schweinsteiger’s signature as their league rivals, Fenerbahce, are also believed to be keen to secure the services of the former Bayern Munich star.

The 31-year-old had to endure a frustrating first season in England, during which he only made 18 league appearances for United.

Schweinsteiger, who played for Germany at Euro 2016, is still on vacation, so his future is unlikely to be clarified before he returns to training.

He’s been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford following the arrival of Mourinho, but he’ll probably get a chance to prove his worth just like every other player in the team.

Blind, Varela, Mata and Blackett had also been linked with possible departures this summer, but they all played in United’s first pre-season friendly at Wigan Athletic.

If Schweinsteiger can shake off his injury problems, he’d be a very important player for Manchester United.
