Manchester United are keen on Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report suggests Jose Mourinho, who brought Fabregas to Stamford Bridge two years ago, wants to wait and see whether the Spaniard is part of Antonio Conte’s plans at Chelsea as the Italian manager is thought to be pursuing a number of midfielders in this transfer window.
The 29-year-old, who couldn’t help Spain retain its European Championship trophy this summer, was way below his best last season.
The 2014/15 champions had to endure a terrible season, during which Fabregas scored 5 goals and provided 7 assists in 41 appearances.
Despite his recent struggles, Fabregas would be a good signing for Manchester United.
He’d add some much-needed creativity to United’s ponderous midfield and wouldn’t need time to adjust to Mourinho’s tactics.
It’s hard to imagine Chelsea selling Fabregas to Jose Mourinho’s new team, but stranger things have happened. If United are really interested in the Spaniard and he pushes for a move to Old Trafford, he’d probably get his wish.
