Jose Mourinho reportedly sends scouts to watch 17-year-old

Jose Mourinho is interested in signing West Ham teenager Reece Oxford and has sent Manchester United scouts to watch the player at the Under 19 European Championship in Germany, according to the Daily Mail.

The report suggests West Ham don’t want to lose the talented youngster, but his refusal to extend his contract could temp the capital club into selling.

United are believed to be prepared to offer £10m for the 17-year-old.

Oxford, whose contract with West Ham is due to expire in 2018, made 12 appearances in all competitions for SlavenBilic’s side last season and is generally regarded as one of the brightest English talents.

Manchester United are famous for signing the best youngsters in the world and it seems like Jose Mourinho is ready to continue the tradition this summer.

West Ham’s academy is one of the best in England and Oxford, who can play both in defense and midfield, could follow in the footsteps of Rio Ferdinand by joining Manchester United.

Oxford is not yet ready to be a regular starter for a leading Premier League team, but he has enough potential to justify a move to United this summer.
