Manchester United will sell Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Varela this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The report suggests both players have been told they can leave the club in this transfer window as Jose Mourinho doesn’t think they’re good enough to be a part of the first team.
Mourinho is believed to have identified centre-back Axel Tuanzebe and versatile defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah as players with greater potential.
22-year-old Blackett, who can play at centre-back and left-back, made his professional debut for United under Van Gaal two years ago, but failed to hold on to a first-team place and spent last season on loan at Celtic.
Blackett failed to establish himself at Celtic Park and only made 4 appearances for the Scottish champions.
23-year-old Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Varela enjoyed a spell in United’s first team between December 2015 and March 2016, during which he made 7 appearances.
However, Varela was banished to the reserves after his poor performance in the Europa League against Liverpool at home.
It appears as though Blackett and Varela are set to leave Old Trafford this summer, which could be a good move for their careers.
If Mourinho doesn’t think they’re good enough for the first team, then they should leave for the sake of their careers.
