Report: Manchester United hoping to beat Real Madrid to midfielder’s signature

Paul Pogba

Manchester United are trying to persuade Juventus star Paul Pogba to move back to Old Trafford this summer and are prepared to meet the Italian champions’ asking price for the midfielder, according to the Daily Mail.

The report suggests £80m-rated Pogba favours a switch to Real Madrid, but the European champions’ president, Florentino Perez, isn’t entirely convinced Pogba’s worth breaking the bank for.

United are believed to be ready to take advantage of Real Madrid’s hesitation by trying to convince Pogba and his family that a return to Manchester would be the best possible move for the French international’s career.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who’s currently preparing for France’s Euro 2016 semi-final against Germany on Thursday, scored 10 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 appearances last season as he helped Juventus to a domestic double for a second season in a row.

If United manage to secure Pogba’s services this summer, it’d be a massive coup for the club. The Frenchman would add strength, power and creativity to the  team and would immediately improve the club’s chances of challenging for honours next season.

It appears as though Pogba will be in the centre of the biggest transfer saga this summer and United certainly have the financial muscle to make the deal happen.
