Chicharito Scores Wonder Goal and Defeats Bosnia

OK, maybe it wasn’t a wonder goal, but Chicharito was at the right place at the right time, a skill which has led him to become a world known striker. Seriously though, in what was a tough friendly between Bosnia and Mexico at Chicago’s Soldier Field, the Bosnian defender’s mishap was the difference that lead to Mexico’s 2-1 victory. The Mexican National Soccer Team had clear possession of the ball for large parts of the game, but the Bosnian team was tenacious in its defense, and if it wasn’t for the Bosnian defender’s need to imitate Wayne Rooney’s famous overhead chilenita goal, we would have had a tied game. Check the move out:

Overall, the Mexican team looked good on the field, though struggling in the final third of the pitch due to the well-prepared Bosnian defense. On their part, the Bosnian’s played a defensive style, making good of their chances by scoring off an excellent through pass that tore inside the Mexican defense. It seems that the difference maker was the inclusion of Chicharito and Guardado as subs early in the second half, with Chicharito scoring his well-deserved goal late in the game. I also want to comment on Aldo De Nigris, who showed throughout the first half that he is in excellent form, moving around efficiently, and giving the assist in Dos Santos’ goal.

The Mexican National Team will face Brazil on June 3, 2012 in their last friendly before the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers begin. After their superior performance over the U.S. National Team, the Brazilian squad will want to continue their good form en route to the Olympic soccer games. I suspect a tough match will be fought, and would not be surprised if the match ended in a draw, although I do see Brazil as a slight favorite due to their recent form. After Brazil, Mexico will have to face off against Guyana, El Salvador, and Costa Rica for a chance to play in the last round of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers. I can guarantee that Mexico will win the group, and move one to the next round without any issues.
