Report: Manchester United bid for £38-million rated winger

Manchester United have made a bid for Wolfsburg winger Julian Draxler, according to Transfermarketweb.com.

The report suggests Draxler is one of Jose Mourinho’s main transfer targets this summer and United have already made a firm offer to sign the German international.

Wolfsburg are believed to be keen to keep Draxler at the club, but would consider selling him if they receive an offer of more than €50m.

The 2008/09 Bundesliga winners signed Draxler from Schalke last summer as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who had moved to Manchester City.

Draxler, who can play on either wing and behind the striker, scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 32 appearances for Wolfsburg last season.

Draxler would be a quality addition to the United team. He’s only 22 years old, but already has vast experience at domestic and international level.

If United sign Draxler this summer, he’d probably spend more time on the right wing than anywhere else on the pitch, but his ability to play in more than one position could be invaluable as it’s important to have quality, versatile players in the squad.

Given Wolfsburg’s extremely disappointing Bundesliga season and their reported financial problems due to the Volkswagen crisis, Draxler’s departure seems like a very real possibility.
