Juventus are interested in Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian, according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.it.
The report suggests Juventus would be keen to sign the Italian international if Stephan Lichtsteiner leaves the Italian champions this summer.
Jose Mourinho is believed to want to keep the former Torino player at Old Trafford, but could be tempted to sell him if Juventus offer enough money.
The 26-year-old, whose United contract runs until 2019, is most comfortable at right-back, but can also play on the left.
Darmian left Torino for Manchester United last summer and made 37 appearances as United finished outside of the Champions League places for a second time in three years.
The player’s unconvincing displays for United led to him losing his place in the starting eleven to Antonio Valencia towards the end of last season.
Darmian’s only been at United for a single season and deserves a chance to prove his worth in Mourinho’s system, but he isn’t irreplaceable by any means and if Mourinho decides the team needs a better player at right-back, the Italian wouldn’t be missed much.
Darmian would be much more comfortable in Massimiliano Allegri’s 3-5-2 formation at Juventus as he’s already got vast experience as a wing-back.
