Report: Manchester United target offered new deal worth £100,000-a-week

Leicester City have offered a new £100,000-a-week deal to Riyad Mahrez, according to The Sun.

The report suggests the English champions are desperate to keep the Manchester United and Arsenal target at the club, but would be open to selling him for £30m if last season’s PFA Player of the Year decides it’s time to move on.

Manchester United and Arsenal are both believed to be interested in signing the 25-year-old Algerian winger this summer.

Mahrez enjoyed a sensational campaign at Leicester, scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists to help his club secure its first ever Premier League trophy.

Despite Leicester’s magnificent title-winning campaign that also rubber-stamped their first ever Champions League participation next season, Mahrez has insisted he hasn’t made a decision on his future yet.

“For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see. It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave,” he said.

“Nothing is agreed, nothing is done. We will see.”

Mahrez would be a fantastic signing for Manchester United. The team desperately needs a quality right winger and Mahrez would be the perfect option. The Algerian would suit Mourinho’s system as he’s fast, hardworking and very effective in attack.

Manchester United could easily afford to pay Leicester City’s asking price for Mahrez, but it all depends on the player’s plans for the future.

He could decide to leave for a bigger club where the pressure and expectations would be much higher and if that happens, Manchester United should be ready to do everything possible to bring him to Old Trafford.
