Kolo Toure won’t be continuing his career at Anfield, as he is released from his contract and he isn’t going to get a new one, per the official Premier League site.

The thirty-five-year-old defender was released on a free transfer and currently, he is without the club. While it is true that Toure had some excellent performances this last season, and he was sometimes even Liverpool’s most reliable defender, the fact is that he’s getting pretty old and he can’t keep up the pace with Premier League’s football.

He joined Liverpool on a free transfer in 2013, and has made 71 appearances in total for the Reds, and he was ready to step in every time when someone from the first-team squad defenders couldn’t play.

Toure’s final appearance was in the Europa League final against Spanish club Sevilla, when Liverpool lost 3:1, despite having a lead thanks to Daniel Sturridge’s goal. Toure will surely be missed by Liverpool fans, but his time at the club has come to an appropriate end.
