Manchester United reportedly leading the chase for £65m Juventus star

Paul Pogba

Manchester United are in pole position to sign Paul Pogba due to Guardiola opting against trying to bring the Juventus midfielder to the Etihad this summer, according to the Guardian.

The report suggests Pogba is one of Jose Mourinho’s transfer priorities this summer and United are now considering whether to make an official bid for the French international.

Juventus are believed to value Pogba at around £65m and would probably be reluctant to drop their asking price as they’re under no pressure to sell.

Bringing the 22-year-old back to Old Trafford would not be easy as there would be plenty of other interested clubs.

It could all come down to Pogba’s personal preference and whether he’d be prepared to return to the club he left in controversial circumstances 4 years ago.

The midfielder has professed his love for United on multiple occasions in the last couple of years, so the English giants may have a decent chance in convincing the player to return to the club this summer.

However, if United want to sign the midfielder, they’d have to wait until the end of Euro 2016, as Pogba will feature prominently in the French starting eleven.

Pogba is a world-class player and would be exactly what United need – a powerful, driving force in midfield. His signing would also address the issue of the lack of creativity in the current squad.
