Mourinho reportedly wants Manchester United to sign £54m Superstar

Mourinho has urged Manchester United to spend £54m on Saul Niguez, Atletico Madrid’s player, reports the Daily Star. The report indicates that the player’s release clause increased from £34m to £54m, after agreeing to £80,000-a-week contract.

The player had a successful season with Atletico. If Manchester United is willing to splash the cash, then Mourinho stands a great chance of adding the 21-year old player to his squad. The United manager has in the past been criticized for not showing enough interest to the younger players.

However, his great interest in this player and the signing of a new contract by Rashford suggest he might be open to change after all.

It is prudent to assume that the Spanish midfielder is critical to the manager. The player is believed to be at the top of Portuguese manager’s list. Time will tell whether the team will listen to the manager or not, and whether Manchester United will be willing to meet the exorbitant release clause.
