Manchester United reportedly favourites to sign Valencia midfielder

Manchester United are leading the chase for Valencia ace Andre Gomes, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The report suggests United are engaged in a transfer battle with Juventus for the Portuguese international and both clubs are determined to sign the player.

Juventus have apparently offered Valencia a package of €30m + an additional €20m in potential bonuses, which hasn’t impressed the Spaniards, whereas United are believed to be willing to meet the €40m asking price.

Despite being part of a struggling Valencia team this season, 22-year-old Gomes seems to be attracting more than enough interest. If United and Juventus are indeed the only genuine candidates for the midfielder, then he’d have to choose which club to join.

Juventus are the best team in Italy and will be playing in next season’s Champions League, which would be a major advantage for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

Joining United would mean no Champions League for Gomes next season, but the English giants are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Gomes could be tempted to become a part of the new era at Old Trafford under Mourinho’s leadership.

Andre Gomes would definitely be a signing to get excited about. He’d add energy and attacking purpose to the ponderous United midfield. He’s also still very young with plenty of room for improvement, but he’s talented enough to establish himself at a top club.

United have more than enough financial strength to potentially outbid Juventus if their interest is genuine, so it could come down to the player’s personal preference.
