Liverpool Echo reports that Klopp is looking to extend Cameron Brannagan’s contract.
Brannagan made his first Premier League start when LFC faced West Bromwich Albion in their last game of the 2015/16 season. When asked about his Liverpool spell, the twenty-year-old stated: “Now I’ve had a taste of the Premier League, I just want more of it.”
This could mean that Brannagan is ready to work harder than ever, and his readiness is something that Klopp must count on.
With a lot of midfielders already in the squad, and Marko Grujic coming to Liverpool, Brannagan’s road to the first-team squad is going to be very hard, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
His qualities include something that not so many Liverpool’s players have, because he is the one that can slow down the rhythm of the game, and his passing ability is a feature that could be very handy.
On the other hand, Liverpool isn’t going to participate in any European competitions next season, so it is quite possible that Klopp isn’t going to rotate the squad so much. Brannagan should seek his opportunity in the FA Cup and League Cup matches, and who knows, he may get some Premier League minutes after all.
