Manchester United Flop still confident of future at Old Trafford

Depay

Memphis Depay believes that Louis Van Gaal’s departure does not affect his Manchester United career anyhow, as the board still has faith in him. The Dutch international had a tough first-season at Old Trafford despite having a bright start to his career.

“No, this [van Gaal’s departure] does not affect me. I am happy to be at Manchester United and the board is happy with me, so I don’t know why it would,” said Depay in an interview to De Telegraaf.

Memphis Depay previously revealed that one of the biggest reasons why he chose a move to The Theatre of Dreams was the presence of Louis Van Gaal. They were together at PSV Eindhoven and Van Gaal played an important role in his arrival at the Old Trafford.

Depay had a very promising start to his career at Old Trafford and in initial fixtures he showed why he is worthy of wearing the No. 7 jersey. A number that has not found its right match ever since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. His efforts booked United’s place in the Champions League, but as the season progressed his performances downed to a new low. Consequently, Van Gaal lost faith in the winger and Martial became the first choice over Depay.

Jose Mourinho to Manchester United is a done deal and an official announcement is expected in next few days. Depay believes that the change will be favourable for him, as the board has kept faith in him even when the new manager is expected to make his own decisions.
