Report: Liverpool’s £32.5m Player Faces Uncertain Future Under Klopp

As Liverpool Echo reports, Christian Benteke is uncertain if he is going to play for Liverpool next season or not. Having scored just ten goals during his Liverpool spell, the Belgian striker is now uncertain about his future. However, he would like to stay.

Christian Benteke said “It was not my best season, I know that, but the goals I scored were not to make it 5-0 or 4-0, it’s not that I’m happy with that – it could be more but I want to look forward.” Also, he admitted that he needs to sit down and talk with Klopp about his plans.

While Benteke surely is a good striker, it is unclear what his role in Klopp’s squad is for next season. He probably doesn’t quite fit the style of play that Klopp is forcing, and that may be the most important factor in Klopp’s decision.

On the other hand, Benteke signed a 5-year contract, and Liverpool paid £32.5m for him, which isn’t a small amount of money. This could prove to be very important in the board’s decision to let him go, or maybe keep him one more season to see if he is going to pay off.
