The first-leg between Necaxa and Juarez FC for the ‘Final de Ascenso‘ will be played this Saturday, May 14, 2016 (6:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Victoria in Aguascalientes. This wild-card final series will be extremely exciting and nerve-racking as the winner will win promotion into the Liga MX following Dorados of Sinaloa’s relegation.
Necaxa joins this promotion final after winning the Ascenso MX Clausura 2016 just days ago against Mineros de Zacatecas. The team coached by Alfonso Sosa performed wonderfully throughout the past semester and considering they were just crowned winners last May 7, they enter this final against Juarez as favorites. The ‘rayos’ can gain a good advantage in this first-leg in front of their home crowd which could faciliate their match next week in Ciudad Juarez.
Bravos of Juarez reached this final after winning the Apertura 2015 title just six months ago. To their misfortune, the team coached by Sergio Orduña performed poorly throughout the Clausura 2016 where they did not qualify into the playoffs. Concerns are raised toward their playing form as their last official match was played almost a month ago. Nonetheless, these promotion finals are played with great passion and Juarez could surprise Necaxa.
