The Boca Juniors vs Cerro Porteño Copa Libertadores match will take place this Thursday, May 5, 2016 (5:45 PM Pacific) at the Estadio La Bombonera. This round-of-16 second leg match will determine which team qualifies into the quarterfinals to face the winner between Nacional and Corinthians.
Boca Juniors has everything in their favor to win the series this Thursday night as they are the better team on paper, play play with the support of their home crowd, and because they defeated Cerro Porteño last week in the first leg. The team coached by Guillermo Barros Schelotto will qualify into the quarterfinals with a win, a tie, or 0-1 loss (1-2 loss takes the game into penalty kicks). As an extra motivator, Boca Juniors will give it an extra push to reach for the championship as last year’s Libertadores winner (and Boca’s biggest rival), River Plate, was eliminated in their series against Independiente del Valle.
Paraguay’s Cerro Porteño will have a very difficult visit into one of the world’s most emblematic stadiums. The team coached by Gustavo Morinigo must win by scoring two or more goals in order to eliminate the Argentine giants in what is almost a replay of last year’s Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals. In that series, Boca won the first leg 1-0 at home, and in the second leg Cerro Porteño succumed to the pressure and lost 1-4.
