Jurgen Klopp spoke in the press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash against relegation-fighting Newcastle United, when he was asked about what future Kolo Toure holds at the club. Klopp plainly said he can’t give the answer, as he hasn’t talked with the defender about it yet, although he added that Kolo is a part of his plans.
Klopp has trusted the rusty Ivorian international, as he has played a significant amount of time under Klopp. Despite age being a factor, Kolo has shown resilient defensive display under Klopp and has been impressive in recent games. Klopp said that Kolo Toure did have problems- injury-wise, when he arrived at the club after Brendan Rodgers’ sacking, but has recovered since then.
Klopp admitted Kolo Toure is an important player on and off the pitch. However, despite positive answers, the German said it’s not the right time to talk about Kolo’s future, indicating a sense of undecided matter in his mind.
For next season, Kolo might serve from the bench and make a way for new signings- fresh legs at Anfield. It’s apparent Liverpool have a shaky defense and will need to recruit someone who can deliver consistently throughout the season.
