Klopp is adamant that the Europa League clash against Villarreal won’t affect the selection of the lineup against Newcastle United. “After the game tomorrow we have something like 6 days- that’s normally a week,” said Klopp, who urged his players not to think about the Villarreal clash and focus on Newcastle United.
Newcastle United was aggressive in their match against Manchester City, they were hot and greedy, stated Klopp. Klopp stressed that their focus will solely be on the game against Newcastle United, as there will be an ample amount of time to prepare for the Europe League clash.
Newcastle United are facing a relegation battle and will be expected to come out with aggression, which needs to be respected and not neglected, said Klopp, adding that he demands his players answer back with the same determination.
Though Klopp’s team might be out of reach of a top four European spot, if they clinch the Europa League title they will be qualified for Champions League automatically. Despite nothing left to fight for in the league, Klopp admits his focus is still on the league, as they have enough time to prepare for Villarreal.
Nonetheless, fans know that the true focus is on the Europa League, and Klopp is likely trying to maintain a high level of motivation in the squad.
