Despite being Liverpool manager for less than a year, Jurgen Klopp may already have his signature win after the magnificent 4-3 comeback win against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League. As great as that match was, Klopp now has to refocus his players to this weekend’s Premier League trip to Dean Court to face Bournemouth.
Goalkeeper
Simon Mignolet will go from facing one of the most dangerous goal-scoring teams in the world to an average attacking team in Bournemouth. While it won’t be a walk in the park, Mignolet should have an easier time this weekend.
Right-Back
Jon Flanagan has not made an appearance in recent weeks but this is the perfect opportunity for the local lad to show what he is capable of.
Center-Backs
Klopp could choose to rest both Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho, especially after the emotional rollercoaster both went through. Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel should be able to hold their own for one match but one has to assume the two first choice defenders are extremely motivated to play every minute for the rest of the year.
Left-Back
Nathaniel Clyne has been an iron-man for the Reds this year and his positional versatility could lead him to protecting the left side of the defense.
Defensive Midfield
With both Jordan Henderson and Emre Can out for this match, Joe Allen and James Milner will be the players tasked with dominating the middle of the pitch. Lucas Leiva is another option but Allen and Milner’s energy make them better options for the pressing Klopp demands. He could also go with Kevin Stewart, a player who has really impressed when given the opportunity.
Attacking Midfield
Klopp now has a wealth of attacking options but Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Sheyi Ojo may be the combination he goes with this weekend. Lallana and Firmino were substituted against Dortmund so they should be motivated to play well against the weaker opposition. Ojo was fantastic in his Premier League debut and his potential is something everyone should be excited about.
Forward
Divock Origi has been on fire as of late but he has been playing a lot of minutes in recent weeks so starting Daniel Sturridge makes sense. Sturridge is still one of the most feared strikers in the league, he should have plenty of opportunities to score against one of the weaker defenses.
