According to Portuguese news source A Bola, Manchester United are ready to make a £16m bid for 22 year-old SC Braga midfielder Rafa Silva, but that number could rise considerably with Portuguese club Porto also expressing interest in signing the young player.
The source adds that United management have sent scouts to follow the performance of Silva on multiple occasions since January. The Portuguese international signed a five year contract with Braga in 2013, though the transaction fee was never disclosed.
Now in his third season with the Portuguese club, he has scored a total of 13 goals in 67 appearances since arriving there. Braga are currently in 4th place in the league table and finished there last season, but they are no strangers to success at the European level.
They are soon to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League quarter-finals in home and away legs on the 7th and 14th of April. Braga might cash in heavily should they decide to sit tight and sell to the highest bidder.
