David Moyes has stated that he would like the opportunity to manage Manchester United once again
Following a glorious 25 year reign as manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson handpicked David Moyes to be his successor at Old Trafford in the summer of 2013 and the former Everton boss was labeled as the ‘Chosen One’ by the Red Devils’ faithful.
Having been handed a six year contract, United were hoping that Moyes could have a similar long term impact as Sir Alex did and there were certainly quite a few similarities between the two Scotsmen.
As it turned out though, Moyes endured a terrible time as manager of Manchester United and did not even come remotely close to matching Sir Alex’s achievements. Consequently, following only 10 months into his six year deal – Moyes was unceremoniously dumped by the United hierarchy.
Moyes wants Manchester United return
Now Moyes has been speaking regarding his ill fated period as manager of United and has stated that he would have done things differently if he knew that his job would be on the line so soon, before adding that he would love to return to manage the Red Devils once again.
Moyes said, “I would have only done it differently if I’d known it was 10 months instead of six years. My under-standing was that I was going to a club which always looked after their managers, even when they were in trouble and it wasn’t going well, you got your time to sort things out. I was under that illusion when I was there.
“I had a great group of players who had recently won the Premier League under Sir Alex, but it was going to take time for that to change, evolve and, of course, there was going to have to be a changeover of players in time.
“But it couldn’t be done in 10 months. Would I take the job again? Of course, I would. There are few managers in the world who wouldn’t want to manage United.”
