Talks have commenced: Chelsea in discussion with shock summer replacement for Mourinho

Chelsea are already in discussions with Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini regarding a summer move, according to reports from the Daily Mail

Following the departure of Jose Mourinho, Chelsea have gone on to appoint Guus Hiddink as the caretaker manager for the second time and the Dutchman will be handling the affairs of the club till the end of the season.

Even if Hiddink is able to revive Chelsea’s fortunes, it is believed that the club hierarchy will look at a more long term option upon the conclusion of the current campaign and a host of names such as Diego Simeone, Pep Guardiola and Juande Ramos have already been bandied about in the media as potential targets.

Now according to reports from the Daily Mail, it has been claimed that Chelsea have also shortlisted Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini as the shock target to take over at Stamford Bridge and the Premier League champions have already begun discussions with the Chilean.

Pellegrini has impressed many with the job that he has conducted at Manchester City since his arrival to the club a couple of seasons ago.

Despite Pellegrini’s exploits though, City are looking to appoint a more long term option in the form of Pep Guardiola at the end of the season and it is widely expected that the current Citizens’ boss will be departing Manchester in 2016.

Nonetheless, Pellegrini is said to be keen on a stay in the Premier League and Chelsea have reportedly viewed the 62-year old as the man to take over the reins in London ahead of next season.
