Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed that superstar manager Jose Mourinho wants to take over the reins at Old Trafford
Manchester United’s poor form continued after they succumbed to a disappointing 2-1 loss at the hands of Norwich City at Old Trafford on Saturday and following the defeat, many have called for manager Louis van Gaal to get the sack.
Even before the defeat, van Gaal had found himself under immense pressure and there were talks that United could well dispense with the services of the Dutchman in order to appoint the recently sacked Jose Mourinho as their new man in charge.
Mourinho keen on Manchester United job says Ferdinand
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has been vocal regarding Manchester United’s managerial situation at the moment and he has made it clear in no uncertain terms that the Red Devils should ditch van Gaal in favour of Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola.
However, Ferdinand is also open to the idea of United appointing Mourinho as the new manager and has insisted that even the Portuguese would love to arrive at Old Trafford.
Speaking to BT Sport, Ferdinand said, “Of course (Mourinho) would love this job. Every manager on the planet would love this job. It’s a huge job and if you do well, you’re a hero.”
