Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel believes that top target Jamie Vardy would not be the right fit at Old Trafford
Leicester City have enjoyed a stunning start to their campaign and the man who has been integral to the Foxes brilliant run so far has been striker Jamie Vardy.
Vardy has scored a brilliant 14 goals in as many Premier League matches and the 28-year old recently managed to create history by scoring in 11 consecutive game in the English top flight with his goal against Manchester United over the weekend – breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s long standing record.

Such a brilliant run of form has unsurprisingly seen Vardy grab the interest from a host of top clubs and recent reports had claimed that Manchester United are eyeing a move for the Leicester star in an attempt to bolster their attacking lineup during the January transfer window.
Leicester clearly do not want to lose Vardy anytime soon and have slapped a £30million price tag on the former Fleetwood Town star.
Given United’s record of splashing extortionate amounts of money to sign top targets though, it is believed that the Red Devils will not be put off by Leicester’s price tag of Vardy and are expected to pursue the striker in January.
However, former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel does not think that it would be a good idea for the Red Devils to pursue Vardy. Schmeichel admitted that Vardy is a quality striker but does not see how the 28-year old will be able to fit into van Gaal’s system at Old Trafford.

Schmeichel told Sky Sports, “I don’t think he would fit in. I’d love to see Jamie Vardy move on and become stronger and play for England and start for England, but even that is a debate.
“This is the top scorer in England in the Premier League. He has just beaten this incredible record. He has just beaten Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is an unbelievable goalscorer and you are having the debate of should he play for England?
“Of course he should, but that’s the kind of player he is. Would he fit into Van Gaal’s way of thinking or Wenger’s?”
