Spanish side Real Madrid are lining up 21 year old English defender; John Stones, to replace Raphael Varane, who looks to be leaving the club.
The Frenchman, has been linked with a move to the Premier League, attracting interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, who both claim that they are willing to increase the young defender’s wages in order to secure his signature.
According to Spanish sports newspaper AS, if Varane were to be lured away from Madrid, Real would target 21 year old Stones as his replacement.
It would take a significant fee to lure him to the Bernabeu, as Stones’s club Everton, resisted numerous bids from Chelsea, in excess of £30 million. This makes it seem unlikely that they will accept a bid from Real, if they do so. However, after handing in a transfer request, and expressing his desire to leave the club, they may accept a bid, in order to avoid him leaving for free at the end of his current contract.
After Manchester United failed to secure the signing of Spanish international Sergio Ramos, they will turn their attention to his team mate Varane, in order to increase their options at centre back. This has been a known weak spot for them recently, and has been shown as Daley Blind, normally a left back or defensive midfielder, has had to cover there this season.
If Stones joined the Spanish giants, he would very much be a buy for the future, and seen as, along with fellow centre back Nacho, the long-term successors to Pepe and Ramos, as the latter pair are edging closer to the end of their careers.

The English defender, had a great season last year which was rewarded with 6 caps for his country and attracted the attention of Chelsea and Madrid. If he were to move to the Bernabeu, he would join the list of Englishmen to play for Madrid, joining Michael Owen and David Beckham.
In my opinion, this deal could go through, if Varane was willing to move away from Madrid, and if Stones still intends to leave, then I feel that Everton would rather take a big money offer than to let him leave for free at the end of his contract.
