David De Gea could well end up signing a new deal at Manchester United according to reports from Spanish publication Cope
The David De Gea transfer saga this summer was nothing short of a farce and it proved to be a huge source of embarrassment for both Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Despite having all summer long to conclude the deal, United and Madrid left it till the last day of the transfer window and despite the two teams’ best efforts, the move did not come into fruition due to the documentation not being filed on time.
The collapsed move means that Madrid have missed out on their top target while United are left to keep hold of a player who is evidently not happy at the club.
De Gea to sign a new contract at United?
The deal not taking place seemingly has been more damaging to United than Madrid as De Gea does not seem ready to play for the club and they will have to keep paying the goalkeeper his wages before he ultimately leaves on a free at the end of his contract.
Nonetheless as a surprise boost for United, it has been claimed by Spanish publication Cope that De Gea will be signing a new deal with the Red Devils.
While De Gea will eventually be ending up at Madrid, the goalkeeper is seemingly looking to help United earn a fee from his transfer.
Juan Carlos Rivero, who works for the Spanish publication Cope said, “De Gea will end up in Real Madrid next year, although he’ll renew his contract with United.”
It is a bit strange that De Gea would be signing a deal with United as he is intent on leaving and the potential contract extension will most certainly not please Real Madrid.
