Arsenal are reported to have made an offer for Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets of over £24 million.
Arsene Wenger has been keen on building his back line during the summer transfer window and has set his sights on Busquests as a viable addition to his roster.
Busquets has shown his poise and confidence in the defensive midfield role for perennial La Liga powerhouse, FC Barcelona. After coming up from the Barcelona B squad, Busquets has tallied over 200 appearances for the Catalan side’s first team in his seven seasons of first team play with the club.
Wenger has shown his appreciation with Busquets’ talent on the pitch, and is prepared to fund the midfielder if he and Barcelona are willing to make the transfer go through. The Gunners appear ready and willing to cover Busquets’ weekly £120,000 salary in hopes to close the deal on the Spaniard’s move to the Emirates.
At 27-years-old and still with multiple years on his contract left with Barcelona, it may be a tough draw for Arsene Wenger and the Gunners to capture the prized midfielder, but this move is not without merit.
Arsenal have now shown heavy interest, as well as the willingness to put big money behind Sergio Busquets and his talents if both he and Barcelona are able to facilitate the move.
