Manchester United continued their fine form in pre-season with a 3-1 victory over European champions Barcelona at the Levis Stadium on Sunday.
While one should not get carried away regarding the result against Barcelona, United would be satisfied with the fact that the squad is nearing full match fitness with only two weeks remaining before the start of the Premier League season.
Now United prepare for their final game of the US pre-season tour with a clash against Paris Saint Germain at the Soldier’s Field and the match should be another big test for the Red Devils.
Here is the Strongest Possible Lineup for Manchester United on the day –
Goalkeeper
David De Gea may be certain to leave Manchester United this summer but there is no doubting that the goalkeeper has shown a lot of professionalism during the tour of the United States so far.
The Spaniard made an appearance in goal against Barcelona on Sunday and it looks likely that he will be starting once again this Thursday.
There is a possibility that new signing Sergio Romero could be featuring on the day as well while Sam Johnstone will also be hopeful of making an appearance.
Defence
Van Gaal has elected to start with the back four of Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw, Phil Jones and Daley Blind for all the three games of United’s pre-season tour so far and there is no reason why the Dutchman will look to change things around against PSG.
After the interval, one should expect the likes of Paddy McNair, Chris Smalling, Tyler Blackett, Antonio Valencia and possibly, Jonny Evans to feature at the back.
Midfield
Much like with his defenders, van Gaal has elected to go with an unchanged set of midfielders from the start by using Michael Carrick, Morgan Schneiderlin, Juan Mata, Ashley Young and Memphis Depay, and following their impressive displays, the United manager will not feel the need to change things around too much.
As a positive, even United’s second string midfield consisting of young players such as Andreas Pereira, Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard have impressed and they should feature in the second half of the clash alongside more experienced players such as Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is still struggling with injury and looks likely to miss out on the clash once again for United.
Attack
Wayne Rooney got off the mark in pre-season with a well taken goal against Barcelona and he will now surely be looking to make an impact against PSG as well.
Rooney will be leading the line on his own and young James Wilson looks most likely to replace him in the second half.
