Manchester United have entered talks with Atletico Madrid over the signing of Jan Oblak, according to reports emerging out of Spain
It is no secret that Real Madrid are publicly the services of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea at the moment and having recently agreed to allow club legend Iker Casillas to join Portuguese giants Porto, it suggests that the Spanish side are confident of signing the 24-year old despite the protracted round of negotiations.
De Gea also seems hell bent on making his dream move to Madrid come into fruition and United are resigned to the fact that they will be losing their star goalkeeper this summer.
Nonetheless, United have to move on from De Gea and given their financial resources, the Red Devils are more than capable of bringing in a top class replacement for the Spanish international.
Oblak being targeted by United
A host of names such as Hugo Lloris, Fernando Muslera and Keylor Navas among others have been linked with a move to United this summer but in recent times, Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has been mentioned as a realistic target for the Red Devils.
Oblak is a talented young goalkeeper who impressed during Atletico Madrid’s Champions League campaign last season.
Although Oblak was not a regular for Atletico in La Liga, the goalkeeper’s performances in Europe have caught the eye of many and United manager Louis van Gaal is also said to be a keen admirer of the 22-year old.
With De Gea all but set to leave, van Gaal is now looking to ramp up his pursuit for Oblak and according to reports emerging out of Spain, United have entered talks with Atletico over a potential move this summer.
Atletico are not keen on selling Oblak though and United will in all likelihood have to match the release clause of around £32million in order to sign the Slovenian international.
