Liverpool are planning for life after Raheem Sterling by making a swoop for Belgian star Dries Mertens – according to reports from Italy
While Raheem Sterling leaving will prove to be a massive blow for Liverpool, they are expected to receive a huge sum in excess of £40million in exchange of their star man and the incoming funds would surely go a long way in helping in the rebuilding of the squad.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will have to bring in a like for like replacement for Sterling and now according to reports emerging out of Italy, it has been claimed that the Reds are planning a swoop for Napoli star Dries Mertens.
Mertens has been one of the best wingers in Europe over the past few seasons and he enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Italian side Napoli.

However with Napoli missing out on Champions League football, it is believed that Mertens is eyeing a move away from the Stadio San Paolo this summer and a transfer to the Premier League has been touted for the 28-year old.
Rodgers is said to be a keen admirer of Mertens and with Sterling now set to leave Anfield, the Northern Irishman is hopeful of luring the Belgian international to Merseyside during the summer.
