Bidding War! Manchester City make £30million offer for Manchester United target

Manchester City are hoping to steal a march on Manchester United by placing a £30million offer for Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling’s desire to leave Liverpool has sparked a widespread interest in the winger from a host of top clubs around Europe.

Recently, Premier League giants Manchester United were said to be the first club to have made a move for Sterling by placing a £25million bid.

Now to up the ante in the chase for Sterling, United’s rivals City have reportedly moved on to place an improved bid for the 20-year old.

According to the Daily Mirror, City have tabled a £30million, which includes a £25million initial fee with £5million in add-ons.

It is unlikely that Liverpool will accept the offer placed by City as they value Sterling in the region of around £45million but the offer is expected to start a bidding war among interested clubs such as United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Sterling still has two years remaining on his current deal at Anfield but recently rejected a £90,000-per-week deal offered by the Reds.

Nonetheless, Liverpool hold all the cards in deciding the transfer fee for Sterling and the story will be an interesting one to follow throughout the summer.
