The United States Women’s National Team will face the CONCACAF rivals, Mexico, this Sunday, May 17, 2015 (6:30 PM Pacific) at the StubHub Center. The USWNT will play their second-to-last friendly in their preparation for the FIFA 2015 Canada World Cup which will begin next June 6.
The United States forms part of Group D, where they will face Australia, Sweden, and Japan. The match against Mexico will allow the team coached by Jill Ellis to polish certain weak areas in the team. Group D will be a tough group, and ever since Pia Sundhage left the coach’s seat over a year ago, the team still has room to improve.
An important absence for this game will be that of favorite player and star, Alex Morgan. She is still recovering from an injury, but there is hope that she will be 100% ready once the game against Australia arrives.
Mexico is also getting ready for June’s competition as they form part of Group F. They face difficult opponents like France, England, and Colombia, therefore the match against the USA will be a good sign of how the team stands with only days before the start of the World Cup.
USWNT vs Mexico Prediction
The USA Women’s will have a difficult encounter this Sunday, as they face a Mexican squad who is also trying to perfect all of their lines prior to the start of the World Cup.
