Once again we will have an exciting Premier League matchup this Saturday. At 4:45 A.M (PST) the Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton will take place at Anfield. Both teams haven’t been at their best this season and this could lead to a more tense game. So far the teams have generally not met expectations but this match could prove to be a turning point for either team.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool so far haven’t had a great season, but many could attribute that to a variety of factors. One factor could be that players such as Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, and Joe Flanagan are still injured. Fortunately for them, Daniel Sturridge is sure to at least make an appearance in tomorrow’s game. While most currently injured players could be back within a week or so, throughout the season this has affected the team. New signings like Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno may still need a bit more time to feel fully integrated in Rodgers’ system.

Additionally, with so many new signings the team seems to be completely different than the one from last year. Suarez’ absence is definitely still visible in the team’s attacking force and Steven Gerrard is not contributing as much as last year. All of these changes presumably happened for the best of the team but it may still take a while for there to be apparent improvements. With this derby, Liverpool have a chance of proving that they are a top tier team in English football.

Everton Team News

So far Everton have only won one match, drawn two matches and lost two matches. With Liverpool in 11th place, Everton are not too far off in 14th place in the standings. This a perfect moment for the team to get a “pick-me-up” and turn things around for the better. Additiionally, tomorrow, September 27 marks the 15 year anniversary when Everton last beat Liverpool at Anfield. Fifteen years later, Everton will be eager to defeat their rivals once again for points and possibly for history.

In regards to their team, Everton have not yet confirmed if Steven Pienaar and Seamus Coleman are match fit for tomorrow’s match. Both players have missed a couple of matches and there participation in the match could prove to be important. With Brian Oviedo and Darron Gibson finally starting last Tuesday against Swansea, Everton will definitely have several match fit players that will prove to be a hassle for the Reds.

Prediction

The upcoming match between Everton and Liverpoool will certainly be another exciting match in this year’s Premier League. Liverpool are surely desperate to make a statement after narrowly winning matches against Ludogorets in the Champions League, and a thrilling ending against Middlesborough in the Capital One Cup. Similarly, Everton need a change of direction that could get them on the right track. Either way, this match will prove to end in a 2-2 draw. Both teams have not been playing at their best, and it seems unlikely that either team will have a breakthrough match.

TV Schedule

The Liverpool vs Everton match will be televised on NBCS and mun2 this Saturday, September 27, at 4:45 A.M (PST).
