Switzerland returned to winning ways after claiming a 1-0 victory over Jamaica on Friday. Despite the win, manager Ottmar Hitzfeld would have expected a more comprehensive final score at the end after seeing his side dominate most of the proceedings.
During the World Cup, not converting chances can and will hurt teams, and Hitzfeld will surely be demanding a more clinical finishing from his players when struggling Peru pay a visit.
South American side Peru are going through a very tough period at the moment. After finishing 3rd in the 2011 Copa America, it is difficult to pinpoint how things have gone so awry for the Peruvian national team.
Having failed to qualify for the World Cup after a disappointing 7th placed finish in the CONMEBOL rounds, La Blanquirroja are under a period of transition.
Pablo Bengoechea’s men were defeated 3-0 in their last friendly game against England at Wembley and now have conceded a whopping 14 goals in just 7 matches. Currently on a run of four defeats in their last five matches, Peru will surely be hoping to end their poor run of form against Switzerland on Tuesday.

Ottmar Hitzfeld would have been pleased with his side’s overall display against Jamaica and will certainly not look to make wholesale changes to his side.
Diego Benaglio should continue in goal and he looks set to be shielded by a defence consisting of Philippe Senderos, Johan Djourou, Stephen Lichtsteiner and Reto Ziegler. The likes of Steve von Bergen, Ricardo Rodriguez and Fabian Schar will also be hoping to feature as well.
The trio of Gokhan Inler, Valon Behrami and Blerim Dzemaili could be starting in midfield while Xherdan Shaqiri and Valentin Stocker will provide the width.
Haris Seferovic has failed to find the back of the net in his last seven appearances for the Swiss national team and he could well be dropped in favour of the in-form young star Josip Drmic. Admir Mehmedi will also be in contention to lead the line for Switzerland.
Peru
Peru were very disappointing in their loss against England and manager Pablo Bengoechea could elect to shake things up a bit.
Raul Fernandez will start in goal for the Peruvians while Luis Advincula, Yoshimar Yotun, Alexander Callens and Alberto Rodriguez look the most likely defensive combination.
Luis Ramirez, Josepmir Ballon, Paolo Hurtado and Rinaldo Cruzado will probably start in midfield but after their ineffective display against England, the likes of Hansell Riojas and Raul Ruidiaz will also be in contention.
The duo of Jean Deza and Andre Carillo will be leading the line for Peru while Miguel Trauco will also be hopeful of earning a spot in the starting lineup.

While the match seems to be of greater importance for Switzerland than it is for Peru, there is no doubting that both sides will be aiming for a good result on Tuesday.
Switzerland need to carry their momentum going into the World Cup while Peru are in desperate need of a good result in order to bring a halt to their slump.
The Swiss side are in better shape as a unit though and look to be too strong for the Peruvians. Therefore the home side should claim a fairly comfortable victory and head into the World Cup with confidence.
