Last night, Manchester United played one more game at high level. At Old Trafford, they played 1:1 against the European and World champions, Bayern Munich. The draw came as result of great team performance and high morale, after a couple of successive league triumphs. Players were satisfied with the score and performance, and they shared their thoughts on twitter.

Rio Ferdinand reminded us that he can still perform at a high level. He and Vidic were excellent in defense; they reminded us on their performances from the last couple of seasons , when they dominated in Premier League:

Another great European night under the lights at old Trafford…amazing support & atmosphere! Thank u!! Roll on Wednesday !!

One more veteran which was also outstanding last night, Michael Carrick, did great job in the midfield, although he had to fight against Bavarian midfielders and Fellaini, who made lot of mistakes during the game:

Another special night at OT. Support was great boys played well now it’s all on next week. Gotta try n get to sleep first tho. #WideAwake

One player that is most optimistic ahead of the second leg in Germany is Phil Jones. He was great on the right back, much better in defensive tasks than his teammate Rafael:

Great effort from the lads tonight. Looking forward to the second leg. We have good chances to reach the semi-finals. pic.twitter.com/yBV48nsdqL

De Gea and Valencia were also great last night. The Spaniard didn’t have much to do, he did concede a goal, but his overall performance was good. Valencia created lot of trouble to Alaba on the right wing, and also set one chance for Welbeck , when his goal was dismissed by the referee. Both of them were very grateful to the fans for their support in this game:

Great atmosphere in Old Trafford!!! Thanks again for your incredible support! You’re the best. Look forward to 2nd leg. #MUFC

Congratulations to all my team. And the fans for their support. We will fight until the end.

In general, Manchester performance was really great. Perhaps, Moyes found the winning formula for his side and now it is clear he (along with the players) needed just a momentum, some initial spark to start with good games. If Welbeck scored that goal, when he was 1-on-1 with Neuer, the game could have gone in another direction. However, they still managed to remain undefeated in this game and the encounter in Munich is their first final match of this season. Bayern will be without some of the key players in their squad (Schweinsteiger and Martinez are suspended for the next match) and that gives more hope to Red Devils players and fans. Hopefully for them, there will be at least two more games in the Champions League, where anything is possible.
