After losing several star players such as Robin van Persie, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy in recent seasons due to contact wrangles, Arsene Wenger is all too familiar with the implications that followed. As such, the Frenchman is determined to make sure his star players remain in place.

Barely a week after we published an article on Tomas Rosicky’s new 12-month contract, Santi Cazorla is set to put pen to paper on a deal that will see him stay at the North London club till 2017.

A post by Sportsmail suggests that the 29-year old is on the final stages of completing the terms of the new contract that will see him earn a wage in the region of £80,000-a-week.

Wenger revealed that Rosicky had agreed to fresh terms after Arsenal’s 4 -1 premier league win over Sunderland last Saturday and it is believed that Mertesacker and Cazorla are set to follow suit.

The performance of the Spaniard has ratified his price tag in a massive way as his touch and combination play is termed by Wenger as ‘crucial’ to his side’s style of play. Since making his Arsenal debut against Sunderland in August 2012, the former Malaga midfielder has since made 81 appearances scoring 18 goals.

With the future of Mertesacker, Rosicky and Cazorla all tied down, Wenger’s next concern should be securing the future of left-back Bacary Sagna who seems to have attracted bountiful offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco, and Galatasaray.
