Hard to believe as it is, it has been 3,191 days and counting since Arsenal FC last won a trophy. However, in a season that has seen the Gunners top the league standings for the better part of August to February, proceed to the round of 16 of the Champions League and the Fifth round of the FA Cup, Arsenal’s title hopes may be in jeopardy.

With Spaniard Santi Cazorla and Welsh Aaron Ramsey already sidelined, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering resting his key players against Merseyside club Liverpool in the Fifth round FA Cup tie on Sunday.

Despite their 5-1 mauling by Liverpool last Saturday at Anfield, Wenger is said to be willing to bench Mikel Arteta, Wojciech Szczesney, Mesut Ozil and top scorer Olivier Giroud against the same team on Sunday.

The Arsenal boss wants to rest his best players so that they can have fresh legs to keep up counter attacking Bayern Munich, understandably so, but is it worth risking being knocked out of a title they can win?

With Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho labeling Wenger as ‘A specialist in failure’ and Gooners fed up with taunts and trolls about their dusty trophy cabinet, the Frenchman owes it to the fans to win silverware and end the eight year wait.

Should the Arsenal team void of key players beat Liverpool at the Emirates, it will most certainly be considered as a masterstroke. However, If the contrary happens, that could only mean more heartbreak to fans loyal to the North London club.

Whichever squad Wenger chooses to face both Liverpool and Bayern Munich, winning a trophy should take priority over everything else.
