Following their thumping of Merseyside rivals Everton in midweek, Liverpool now have to be considered favourites for a Champions League finish and perhaps the Reds even stand an outside chance of winning the title. There are few teams in the division that is as fluid as Liverpool in attack and the Reds will be hoping to continue their great run of form when they travel to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
However, Brendan Rodgers will be wary of the fact that his side were at the end of a hammering by the Baggies during their last visit to the Hawthorns. Therefore, the Northern Irishman will certainly demand his players not to underestimate their opponents despite West Brom’s struggles at the moment.
Liverpool Probable Lineup vs West Brom
Goalkeeper
Simon Mignolet did not have much to do against Everton but was solid enough whenever called into action. After a couple of shaky performances, a clean sheet would have done the Belgian shot-stopper’s confidence a world of good and he will be looking to replicate his fine performance in midweek against the Baggies on Sunday as well.
Defence
There probably will not be any changes to the defence that started against Everton with the likes of Jose Enrique, Daniel Agger, Mamadou Sakho and Glen Johnson all out of the clash with various injuries.
Aly Cissokho is slowly starting to find his feet at Liverpool and the defender will start at left-back while Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure have been forming bit of a partnership for the Reds and are set to continue at the heart of the defence. Jon Flanagan returned from injury against Everton and put in a solid display at right-back and the young man should keep his spot in the starting lineup ahead of Martin Kelly.
Midfield
Lucas will definitely miss the clash while Joe Allen remains a doubt which means that Steven Gerrard is set to continue in a deeper role with Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho playing in the more advanced midfield positions. Raheem Sterling has been in fine form and will start on the right while the deadly Daniel Sturridge will start on the left wing but will surely drift in-field to provide a more of an attacking threat, like he did so effectively against Everton.
Striker
The magnificent Luis Suarez will lead the line for the Reds and he will be interchanging positions with Daniel Sturridge as the game progresses. The SAS partnership has been devastating and understanding between the two is perhaps second to none among all the front men in the division.
The duo had a bit of a heated exchange in the clash against Everton but should have put that behind them by now and they will surely be causing mayhem in the Baggies defence come Sunday.
